I Weep
by Alberto Luiz Pascasio Reyes
All black. Depressing and dreary sight. Tears hitting the ground.
My heart is hardened because of the anguish I feel.
The moon and stars are hiding behind the soft blankets in the night sky.
No light. A shadow is cast over all who are sleeping.
Solitude and an eerie silence conjuring a somber feeling.
God is watching as I mourn for my loss.
We are all mortals. Only mortals. We feel pain both inside and out.
The inconvenience of a cut. The agony of a hole in your heart.
Like something is missing.
They say if someone dies the memory of them lives on. That isn’t true for me.
I had little time to spend with him. That time is a blur in my mind.
Fate is cruel taking away a loved one. Death’s toll is unpredictable.
A single second is a barrier between life and death.
A single second is all it takes for your heart to stop, for your blood to freeze.
For him I weep.
