Safely Home

San Antonian families have experienced immense loss the first quarter of the year. Losing
a loved one is an experience hard to accept sometimes, but life teaches us to cope and time heals
all wounds. We will not forget them for they have touched our lives as members of the San Antonian
community.
Rufino Llorico
APR 2007, San Francisco, CA - Rufino Llorico lost his battle to cancer, with his wife Zeny and daughter Edna of San Francisco,
by his side. His loving children who will surely miss him also include Rolly, Evelyn L. Ambrosio
of San Diego, Eddie of London, and Boyet of San Antonio. The Llorico family gathered in San
Antonio where Tata was laid to rest.
Leoncio Canonizado
6 FEB 2007, Temecula, CA - Leoncio Canonizado passed away last February 6. He left behind 10 grandchildren from his three sons
namely Romeo, Ariel, and Ray, all of San Diego. Youngest sister Dr. Coring Canonizado, who just
retired from the Philippine Department of Education, attended the funeral. Tata Leoncio was
predeceased by wife Modesta Aysip.

Gloria Ferrer Alegado
7 MAR 2007, Philadelphia, PA - Gloria Ferrer Alegado, age 73, passed away March 7. She was the wife of Herminio S. Alegado. Born in San Antonio,
Zambales, she was a daughter of the late Medardo P. Ferrer Sr. and Petra P. Canonizado-Ferrer.
Mrs. Alegado received her bachelor's degree in Education from the
University of Santo Tomas in Manila. She was a teacher in the Catholic school T.R. Yangco
Educational Institute in San Antonio for six years and later taught grade school in the public
school T.R. Yangco Memorial School and later, San Gregorio Elementary School. She taught for 34
years until her retirement in March 1990.
She was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield, Pennsylavania; has been
a family choir member since 1999 and a member of the senior's group for three years. She served
as secretary and vice president for 10 years of the Catholic Women’s League, was a member of
the Sacred Heart Apostolate and the Cursillio Group, all in the Philippines.

Pablo Abad, Jr.
11 APR 2007, Seattle, WA - Pablo Abad Jr. died of cardiac arrest in a hospital in Seattle, Washington early morning of
April 11. He is survived by wife Lolita Pinpin Abad, children Julius and Randy and, sister Paloma.
The body will then be flown to the Philippines for burial.

3 APR 2007, Oxnard, CA - Lyndon Lezada son of the late Albert Lezada and Felicidad
(Mayang) Evangelista Lezada passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2007. He died of stroke. He
is only 41 years old and single. His interment was at Santa Clara Cemetery, Oxnard, CA.

Vicky Alejandro Damaso
Atty. Vicky Alejandro Damaso who once was a SASDCI inducting officer and guest speaker
passed away earlier this month. She was laid to rest here in California.
Anita Navarro Gutierrez
18 FEB 2007, National City, CA - Anita Navarro Gutierrez succumbed to cancer last February 18th. She was only 67. She worked
for more than 10 years at the Coronado Hotel after which she enjoyed her retirement years by
tending to her garden in their home in National City and also by going home to San Antonio for
vacation every few years. She left behind her children Jimmy, Arthur, Tessie, Pedro, Myrna, and
Gemma, and also several grandchildren including Princess Gutierrez, who was First Princess during
SASDCI Fundraising in 2002.

Lily Ladrillono Fonseca
Lily Ladrillono Fonseca is first cousin to an active San Antonian Mrs. Clarita Santos Camacho. They
brought home to San Antonio the remains of Mrs. Fonseca where she was laid to rest.
All the pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever, Safely Home in Heaven at last.
