July Wowoweekend
by Chi Padua
5 APR 2007 - If you are a stranger to "Wowowee" – then you haven't seen the world-famous show produced
by Philippines' ABS-CBN television station available through Direct TV or your local cable
company. It has gotten so big that even San Diego's San Antonians are caught in the Wowowee
fever.
The show is a special favorite of those who love to admire the beauty and gracefulness of the
Filipina dancers in the show. The lively and graceful moves of the dancers are enhanced by
their svelte figures, as well. We have witnessed their gyrating waists and wide splits…all to
the delight of any dance enthusiasts or those pretending to be a fan of this art form. Whereas,
for some dedicated viewers of the show the games participated in by local and foreign contestants
alike that are the main attraction, one can’t discount comedian-host Willie Revillame's talent
and significant role in bringing the show to its current height of popularity.
Because of the popular appeal of Wowowee, the Officers of SASDCI are coming out with a
fun picnic theme. WOWOWEEKEND will be held on July 14th picnic at Admiral Baker Field. Now,
who better to show us how to have a Wowowee time than Mina and Ben Maggay? The couple recently
visited the set of Wowowee in the ABS-CBN station in Quezon City, Philippines. They were recognized
by several San Antonian fans of the program shown last January 30. Golfing buddies of Mng. Ben went
with them to the show too. Golf or no golf, we are almost sure that Mng. Ben's recent trip to the
Philippines is the most exciting so far. His smile says it all in the photos!
